Failover Server Is Not Properly Engaging upon System Failure

$
0
0

This could be caused by a few things.

1. The production server and the failover server are not sharing a database.

2. Not enough time has gone by, the standard wait time for a failover in a production environment is around 5 minutes.

3. The server did not properly fail (this typically is seen when the customer is trying to force a failure and they do so by stopping the service and waiting for the failover to happen when it will not in this instance)

4. Failover server has lost connection to the database.

5. The failover server failed in the same way that the production server failed (for example a system wide power failure would account for this).

The Health Monitor Cloud is an application used to monitor the health of one or all of your servers.

It is peace of mind knowing a passively running server is there to monitor and ensure your video surveillance servers are running and cameras are recording to minimize the risk associated with a down server or camera.

Health Monitor Cloud requires registration with the monitoring system. The registration page may be found here.  Click on the register link in the bottom right to register your system.

To complete the risk mitigation and disaster recovery associated with your security initiative you may also want to consider installing a Failover server, discussed on page 26 in the Admin Guide.
